Ban on Drones, Firecrackers, and Other Aerial Objects
To maintain peace and prevent panic amid rising Indo-Pak tensions, the Gurgaon district administration has imposed a ban on drones, kites, firecrackers, gliders, microlight aircraft, and hot-air balloons. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar announced that the restrictions will remain in place at least until July 7. The move aims to avoid confusion or fear that could stem from noises resembling bomb blasts or aerial threats.
Enhanced Surveillance and Visitor Monitoring
Hotels, guest houses, PG accommodations, offices, and cyber cafes must now maintain records of all visitors and tenants, including photocopies of identity cards. Police verification is mandatory for anyone staying beyond seven days. Violators will face action under Section 223 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023.
Installation of Emergency Sirens Across the District
The administration plans to install sirens with a 5km range at key government offices and smaller sirens with a 1-2km range at public locations. These alerts will help inform citizens during emergencies.
Community Engagement and Public Awareness Campaigns
The DC met with representatives from 60 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to combat misinformation and build confidence. A verified social media group will share official updates, and RWAs will identify safe zones and educate residents on emergency protocols.
Emergency Preparedness Across Departments
All state government employees have had their leaves canceled to ensure readiness. The fire department has been directed to inspect equipment, coordinate with local bodies for water supply, and ensure adequate staffing, including support from Civil Defence and Home Guard volunteers. Hospitals are also preparing by reserving beds and stocking essential supplies like oxygen cylinders and ventilators.
These proactive measures aim to ensure safety, preparedness, and community cooperation in uncertain times.
